The EU trade balance is back in the black. In the second quarter of 2023, the value of exports exceeded imports by €1 billion, ending 6 quarters of trade deficit. This is a clear improvement from the €155 billion trade deficit recorded in the third quarter of 2022 – the highest since 2019. Among the product groups recording a surplus: ⚙ Machinery and vehicles, €52.4 billion ⚗ Chemicals, €48.5 billion 🧀 Food and drinks, €15.6 billion We expect the EU trade balance for goods and services to turn positive this year and improve further next year. #EuropeanUnion

🚊 We want to make train travel in Europe silky smooth. From pan-European corridors to interregional and local rail connections, we have helped build greener and sustainable ways to move across Europe. However, there is still more to do. By leveraging the European Regional Development Fund: 🚊 Today, we earmarked more than €52 million to support the purchase of 37 electric trains for 13 interregional routes in Romania. 🚆 Earlier this month, we allocated €411 million to help build two sections of Spain’s Murcia-Almería high-speed railway. These projects, among many others, will enable passengers to travel faster and more frequently – cutting emissions and empowering local communities. This is what we stand for. 📷© Adobe Stock: 1.
