Mentioned in the News (MITN) is an automated feature that looks for online news articles and matches names in these articles to LinkedIn members or organizations. We don't yet have any member controls to generate your own MITN entries.
An algorithm determines whether a news item mentioning a common name like John Smith is about your friend John Smith or a different John Smith. While this algorithm is good, it's not perfect. It's a good idea to check that the person or organization in an article is the same person or organization you're following.
If you see any news item associated with the wrong person or organization (or any offensive or inappropriate content in a news item), please report it by clicking the Wrong Person or Wrong Organization flag.
When our algorithm identifies a news story that mentions you, you'll receive a You Made the News email. This email includes the news stories about you that are shared with your LinkedIn connections and followers, should your privacy settings allow such sharing. If there's an article that's incorrectly associated with you or that you'd like to remove, click Remove Article. If you'd like to share a news article that mentions you more widely, click Share.
We can't guarantee that every article about you or a person or organization you follow is picked up. This could be because the name is too common for our system to be confident in the match, the article content is considered objectionable, or the publication (i.e. New York Times) doesn't allow us to pull articles from its site, among other reasons.
If you don't want your connections and followers to know when you're mentioned in the news, you can opt out of this feature in your privacy settings. Please note that this option is not available to organizations, and generally we are not able to remove accurate associations to companies or other organizations upon request.
To manage your MITN email settings:

Click the
Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage. -
Click Settings & Privacy.

Click Visibility on the left rail.

In the Visibility of your LinkedIn activity section, click Change next to Notify connections when you’re in the news.

Switch the toggle to No to turn off notifying people in your network that you've been mentioned in an article or blog post. Switch the toggle to Yes to notify people in your network that you’ve been mentioned in an article or blog post.

To manage your Mentioned in the News email settings:

Under the Privacy tab, tap Notifying connections when you’re in the news.

MITN is different from mentioning a person in an update.

At this time, members in Designated Countries (including European Union, European Economic Area, Switzerland) may receive notifications when their connections and members they follow in other regions are mentioned (subject to member settings), but we do not send MITN notifications that relate to members based in Designated Countries. We continue to evaluate coverage of additional regions, and encourage members to share relevant articles from their homepage.
